Thanks to Julie, Barry, Linda, & Kendra for joining us on our trip to Cedarlands today. The weather didn't quite cooperate at the level we would have liked but it didn't keep us from having fun.

This is part of over 15 minutes of video that was captured in the Nina Moose Lake area of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (more on the trip in future posts) of two snapping turtles as they hatched and worked their way down to the stream. You will see a dead baby turtle that had been stepped on, perhaps by a member of our party or someone who portaged their canoe before us. You'll also see a shot of my hand to provide an idea of the size of the turtles. We never touched the live turtles and avoided making their journey any easier or harder than it was. You will see them tumble their way down to the stream. This was shot at 1080p although the default playback is 720p. Feel free to change the quality back to 1080. Although it goes at a turtle's pace this video is amazing and we felt very fortunate to watch their "walk to the sea." Jack |
